The NBATC is hiring a Communications Coordinator

New Brunswick Anti-Tobacco Coalition (NBATC) Communications Coordinator
(Home based, part time contract position) 

The New Brunswick Anti-Tobacco Coalition (NBATC) is an organization composed of a group of stakeholders who are interested in tobacco control and the implementation of an Anti-Tobacco Strategy in New Brunswick.

The vision of NBATC is a tobacco-free province and it strives to work collaboratively with stakeholders to change attitudes, behaviours and environments towards tobacco products and their use in order to build support for anti-tobacco initiatives.

The NBATC Communications Coordinator is a half time position responsible for providing communication support for the work of the Coalition. The Communications Coordinator will oversee the planning and implementation of communication strategies aligned with the NBATC’s mission and vision.

Required skills and knowledge:

  •   Post-secondary education in a discipline relevant to communications, marketing, journalism, public relations and a minimum of 2 years of related work experience.

  •   Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French.

  •   Experience in developing, implementing and evaluation of communications plans and related materials (i.e. fact sheets, newsletters, presentations, press releases).

  •   Ability to communicate messages in a professional and engaging manner designed to generate stakeholder interest and support.

  •   Exceptional organizational skills to prioritize workload and complete projects on a deadline, as well as ability to work independently.

  •   Strong computer skills and familiarity with graphic design, in order to produce various publications (reports, fact sheets and other resources) as well as create visual content for social media campaigns.

  •  Good knowledge of website management and social media.

  •  Interpersonal skills to relate to committee members, staff, government, volunteers and the public.

Core Accountabilities to NBATC:

  1. Create, implement and evaluate a communications strategy that aligns with the work plan of the NBATC and the goals of the New Brunswick Anti-Tobacco Strategy.

  2. Meet and communicate regularly with the Administrative Coordinator to determine the work to be performed based upon direction from the NBATC Steering Committee.

  3. Oversee day-to-day communication initiatives of the NBATC including, but not limited to:

    •   Maintaining the NBATC Website.

    •   Coordinate planning, writing, editing, and distribution of materials.

    •   Contribute to writing and producing articles as needed, including a monthly success story showcasing tobacco-free living initiatives and programs taking place throughout New Brunswick.

    •   Coordinate and distribute a monthly e-newsletter, as well as other email campaigns, as needed, to NBATC email subscribers.

    •   Coordinate ongoing social media efforts.

    •   Promote and coordinate NBATC webinars.

    •   Media relations (i.e press releases, fact sheets, key messages, etc) .

  4. Process and maintain various databases, correspondence, etc.
