National Ban on Menthol and Cloves in all Tobacco Products Comes Into Force

 

 

Canada's national ban on menthol and cloves in all tobacco products came into force on November 19, 2018, 180 days after Royal Assent of Bill S-5.
 
There is already a federal ban on menthol in cigarettes, most cigars (though not cigars weighing more than 6g), and blunt wraps. 
 
Provincial legislation bans menthol and cloves in all tobacco products in 5 provinces (QC, NB, NS, PEI, NL), while in two provinces (AB, ON) menthol and cloves are allowed in certain product categories.
