Overview of Smoking Rates from 1994 - 2017 - Canadian Student Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs Survey

The Propel Centre for Population Health Impact at the University of Waterloo has prepared this overview of trend data for student smoking rates from grades 7-12 from the Canadian Student Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs Survey (CSTADS) for 1994-2016/17. There are impressive declines in smoking, any tobacco use, and use of tobacco products other than cigarettes. However, there is a substantial increase in e-cigarette use; in e-cigarette use by those who do not smoke; and in those who either smoke or use e-cigarettes.
