Canadian Government Announces Increased Funding for Federal Tobacco Control Strategy and Higher Tobacco Taxes. 

The Canadian Government has announced it will renew and enhance the Tobacco Control 
Strategy by providing $80.5 million over five years, starting in 2018–2019, with $17.7 million per year ongoing.

The Canadian Government also proposes a $1 tobacco tax increase – in addition to a $1.29 inflation tax adjustment (for a carton of 200 cigarettes). Altogether, this amounts to a $2.29 increase per carton of 200 cigarettes.
