Health Canada’s Tobacco Control Directorate has launched a new database which promotes openness and transparency by publicly disclosing information on meetings between staff and tobacco and vaping industry representatives related to regulatory consultations and to science and technology matters. This is aligned with Canada’s commitments relative to Article 5.3 of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control which requires Parties, in setting and implementing their public health policies with respect to tobacco control, to act to protect these policies from commercial and other vested interests of the tobacco industry in accordance with national law.
