As of April 1, 2019, the telephone and online services to assist New Brunswickers to quit smoking changed.
We have taken a new approach to the service in New Brunswick by changing the name, the provider and focusing on one-on-one clinical advice to support individuals on their journey to reducing or quitting smoking.
What has changed?
The telephone support service has a new name, Go Smoke-Free NB.
Go Smoke-Free NB is delivered by New Brunswickers for New Brunswickers. Horizon Health Network will provide direct support for the service with collaboration from Vitalité Health Network. The new service offers an evidence-based, supportive approach to smoking cessation that has been used in healthcare settings throughout New Brunswick for more than 10 years.
The toll-free number to call for telephone support is 1-866-366-3667. This number is on cigarette packages.
One-on-one telephone support, in English and French, is available Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (excluding holidays). Anyone calling Go Smoke-Free NB outside of these hours can leave a message to request a call back.
Callers to Go Smoke-Free NB will be assisted by clinical nicotine addiction specialists who have specialized knowledge in providing clinical cessation support. They will listen without judgement, offer guidance, personalized advice and, follow-up support to help callers reduce or quit smoking their own way.
Anyone living in New Brunswick that is interested in receiving support to quit smoking can now ask a specialist to contact them by emailing a completed request form, available on the website, to email@example.com
Once received, a specialist will call at the time indicated on the request form.
